ConQuest truly serves Christ and the Church by providing the world with a growing number of dedicated boys who are discovering the greatest gift, God’s will for their lives. As the patron and co-founder of ConQuest, Brian Bisgrove truly knew that this was the greatest gift a young man could ever discover. As you know, Brian died on Feb 10, 1998 and had pre-planned his funeral card. It reads on the back:

  •    To know the will of God is the greatest knowledge,
  •    To find the will of god is the greatest discovery,
  •    To do the will of god is the greatest achievement

 ConQuest Philosophy

ConQuest consists of three programs designed to instill virtue, develop character and encourage spiritual growth through challenging physical, intellectual and spiritual activities. ConQuest supports the development of an awareness of vocations (married, religious, etc...) presenting them in a positive way to the boys at weekly meetings and monthly retreats.

 ConQuest Father and Son program
A program for boys 5-7 years old (K to grade 2) that gives fathers and opportunity to participate in their son's formation while sharing time with them. It introduces the boys to God through biblical stories, encouraging them to be like the heroes in scripture.

ConQuest Junior program
A program for boys 8-10 years old (grade 3-5), focusing on Jesus as a brother, friend and obedient son. The boys learn that obedience is good and that being obedient out of love for God will help them become better human beings. The program reinforces the basic elements of friendship, including trust, loyalty and sincerity.

Conquest Formation
The ConQuest formation program includes weekly 2 hour meetings. The first hour is spiritual and devoted to character formation and the second hour consists of an activity, most often sports. Using the weekly meeting format, individual virtues are taught during six-week cycles of meetings called "campaign's". Each campaign focuses on a different virtue through athletics, games and skits.

During the first two weeks of a campaign the boys are taught either an old testament story (Father and Son program) or a new testament saint story (Junior program) focusing on a particular virtue. During the third week the boys compete in making posters depicting the virtue taught in the story. The fourth week the boys work in teams to come up with skits based on the story that was depicted in the previous week's poster competition emphasizing the virtue. The fifth week is the 'campaign challenge', which tests everything they've learnt in the previous 4 weeks plus additional catechism questions. This tests everything they are learning in a fun and competitive way. In the final week is a breakaway night where the boys do something fun in celebration of the close of the campaign. This can be an outing or an invited activity at the Club home.

Wrapping together the activities with the spiritual formation is a fun competition format. The boys, split into teams of 6-8 boys, compete over the course of the campaign against the other teams to become the "top" team. They accumulate points throughout the campaign by displaying the campaign virtue in all they do and by working well as a team. This is done by listening well, showing discipline and accomplishing certain tasks over the course of the campaign time period.

The ConQuest Club and ECYD

For boys age 11 to 16 (grade 6-10) provides a fun, athletic atmosphere to help form young men as Catholic leaders, promoting works of social and cultural volunteerism. There is also a strong emphasis on the older boys providing mentorship towards the younger boys.

ECYD is the very heart and soul of ConQuest, creating enthusiasm, zeal, refreshing souls, and making Christ real in a world today that seems to deny Him in every opportunity. ECYD is where the young man can truly learn to be armed and ready for battle, with his mission to discover what Brian Bisgrove discovered, God’s will for the very fabric of his daily life.

 ConQuest roots

ConQuest is the brainchild of the late Brian R. Bisgrove. At age 17, he realized he wasn't being called to be a priest, as he first thought, but he knew he had a specific mission as a layperson - to help young men understand the unique role given to them by Christ.

Brian took the spiritual, intellectual, human and apostolic formation he received during four years of study with the Legion of Christ and used that to create a simple program for boys, now known as ConQuest. Three years into his work he realized that he had cancer. In 1998, at the age of 22, he died, but his father and others were inspired to continue his work. The program now extends throughout the United States and Canada.

How do I register or find more information on registration?

Prayer itself, born in Catholic families, nurtured by programs of Christian formation, strengthened by the grace of the sacraments, is the first means by which we come to know the Lord’s will for our lives. To the extent that we teach young people to pray, and to pray well, we will be cooperating with God’s call. Programs, plans and projects have their place; but the discernment of a vocation is above all the fruit of an intimate dialogue between the Lord and his disciples. Young people, if they know how to pray, can be trusted to know what to do with God’s call." Pope Benedict XVI
