2009-05 Yearend bbq

The 2008-09 Conquest year ended on a great note on Wednesday May 6, 2009. Over 100 Conquest boys and family members gathered at Candy Cane Park on a cool and cloudy evening. We were totally blessed to have avoided the thunderstorms that invaded the city earlier in the day. So, we all enjoyed the freedom of the park and the open spaces. Hotdogs and drinks were plentiful and when we ran out of buns, we bought more and had even more hotdogs. When we ran out of buns again we kept eating the hotdogs. The kids played in the playground, threw footballs, kicked soccer balls and the adults visited and caught up as we took a moment to celebrate each other. Have a great spring and summer to all. To some, we'll see you at the Father and Son Campout and to others we'll see you around or back at Conquest in September. God Bless to all and enjoy the pictures from the bbq (double click on the below if you want to see the pictures in a larger size).

Prayer itself, born in Catholic families, nurtured by programs of Christian formation, strengthened by the grace of the sacraments, is the first means by which we come to know the Lord’s will for our lives. To the extent that we teach young people to pray, and to pray well, we will be cooperating with God’s call. Programs, plans and projects have their place; but the discernment of a vocation is above all the fruit of an intimate dialogue between the Lord and his disciples. Young people, if they know how to pray, can be trusted to know what to do with God’s call." Pope Benedict XVI
