Wednesday, Dec. 10 was the breakaway night to complete the second campaign of the year. The virtue of this campaign was Kindness. The Father and Son (K to grade 2), Junior (grade 3&4) and Junior Launch (grade 5) boys have spent the past 5 weeks learning about the virtue of kindness through various activities from saint and old testament stories to competitions such as posters, skits and catechism challenge. In addition the boys received weekly virtue talks from their leaders.
The sixth week of the campaign was held on Wednesday, Dec.9. The sixth week of every campaign is called the "breakaway night", a celebration that ends the current campaign. The breakaway night for this campaign was a tour of the RCMP's national training academy and barracks. We had close to 70 boys and parents come for this excellent night. As you can see from the pictures below the boys had the great pleasure of witnessing some of the training that takes place for our RCMP cadets. We had a wonderful night and are thankful for the time and efforts given by our friends at the RCMP and especially for Constable Ron deGooijer (a Conquest dad) for making all the arrangements.
The pictures below: (1) cadet troop practicing in the drill hall (2) group picture as we were watching the drill practice (3) demonstration in the gym of the obstacle course area (4) picture of the obstacle course in the gym (5) demonstration of the self defense training - this room was wall to wall mats...this would be great to have for Conquest!!! (6) the RCMP chapel. It was opened especially for us and glimmered in the ice crystals and light snow fall of the cool evening. Yes, it was about -30 degress C...a perfect night for the tough Conquest boys.
